Community Development Center
The Community Development Centre (CDC) promotes a long-term integrated approach to transformation of communities, cities and nations through training in foundations of a biblical Christian worldview and related issues affecting how transformation comes about in a community, city, nation or region of the world.
The phrases “community development” and “community transformation” have become commonplace in many parts of the world today. We believe that God wants people to meet Him and through Him be changed in their foundational ways of thinking. Through personal transformation, individuals and communities become agents of transformation at broader levels, making sustainable development a desirable vision that becomes a present reality. Transformation ultimately takes place as a result of changes of the heart and mind when confronted with Truth, evidence of the transforming power of the Gospel.
In seeking to facilitate change at all levels, some of the activities of the Centre are:
- Training in biblical worldview and development principles and practice through multiple seminars, workshops, outreaches, internships, and the Community Development School;
- Integrating multiple disciplines, and encouraging coordination of people, programmes, and resources within YWAM/U of N and other organizations and communities in pursuit of common objectives;
- Acting as a catalyst for discovering God’s view and intentions for individuals and communities for lasting change through conversations, group discussions, and other forms of training and interaction;
- Consulting with students about opportunities for service and further training in areas of community development and transformation.
The advanced school with its field assignment, the Community Development School, is designed to help students to be transformed in their relationship with God and to be equipped and sent out as agents of transformation.
