| Description: |
A twelve-week course designed to give students a thorough understanding of the inductive approach to Bible study, equipping them with many tools for integrating the Word of God into their personal lives, and using it as a foundation for ministry. The students learn how to employ many creative and diverse methods for reading, interpreting and applying the Scriptures. Students also have opportunities to be involved in topical seminars, dramatic re-creations, and various forms of historical, archaeological, literary and geographical research. During the course students read through the whole Bible, and study in depth many individual books from both the Old and New Testaments. The students have the opportunity to work with every form of literature in the Bible, including the Gospels, the Epistles, the Torah, the Prophetic and Poetical books. Besides giving the students the skills needed for studying the Bible, the Bible Core Course provides a means for learning how to incorporate the Scriptures into areas of evangelism, worship and intercession. Students learn how to memorize, and meditate in the Scriptures. They also are given opportunities to gain experience in leading small group Bible studies, and in enhancing their teaching and preaching skills. Though the Bible Core Course is a stand-alone course, it is designed to be compatible with the longer 9-month SBS (CCM 311, 312, 313). Should a student so desire, she or he may proceed on to the second and third quarters of the SBS upon successful completion of the Bible Core Course. Students who have received credit for CCM 311 may not receive credit for this course. IDS 701 & 702 or IDS 703 & 704. |
